1200 feet up the Boulder Flatirons with a homemade gimbal strapped to a backpack? Sure, why not?
Well, first I can tell you why I took all that gear up, then why I wouldn't do it again.
WHAT MY BRAIN WAS THINKING BEFOREHAND
A mildly irrational desire to justify taking a selfie.
There's a solid chance no one has ever done it before.
Usually a combination of any of these reasons results in something awesome, so it was worth the effort... right?
WHAT I REALIZED AFTERWARDS
My gimbal robot thing requires flat ground to work, and there's none of that anywhere on the flatirons. While flat, they're flat at a 70 degree angle, so I basically brought it up for one shot while I was sitting. While it wasn't a bad shot, I'm definitely googling my locations way more before strapping the ol robot on my back. Want to see the shot? Tune in at the End of the Year to find out :)
